FIND THE RIGHT COLOR
People Style Watch advises shoppers to consider swimsuit colors that work with your skin coloring.
Fair skin: Rich, vibrant colors will create contrast with your skin. Avoid pastels — they'll wash you out.
Medium skin: Brights or jewel tones will stand out against your coloring. Avoid browns and dark grays — they'll make your skin look dull.
Olive skin: Soft or rich colors will complement your undertones. Avoid mustard shades — they can make skin look yellowish.
Dark skin: Pastels or bright shades will pop against your skin. Avoid brown tones — they'll just blend in.
BIG BANG THEORY
Hairdresser and Hollywood's “Mane Man” Chris McMillan offers tips about summer bangs in Allure magazine.
The ideal shape: “For so many years, I loved side-swooping bangs. They're still gorgeous and sexy, but lately I've been doing a lot more traditional straight bangs. The most important thing to remember is that bangs should never be ruler straight: you'll look like a little kid. Instead, they should be about half an inch longer at the temples than in the middle.”
Forehead adjustments: “If you have a small forehead, make sure that the bangs start farther back from your hairline and that they're not too wide. You should have a lot of hair to tuck behind your ears. If they start an inch closer to your crown, it will create the illusion of bigger forehead.”
T-SHIRT FASHION
Find your perfect silky T-shirt in InStyle magazine. Swap your cotton clinger for a filmy top that floats like a summer breeze. Keep in mind:
The feel: This is a dressier alternative to your go-to sporty T. Look for shiny or matte chiffon versions in drapey silk or polyester.
The fit: These shirts are meant to billow softly around the body, not reveal your shape. For a slimmer effect with a tad more definition, grab a peplum or colorblock style.
The ensemble: Try one in a pretty print with white jeans or skinny cropped pants. (Layer over a smooth cami if sheerness is a concern). For an easy evening look, combine with a full-skirted mini, flat sandals, and a metallic necklace.
